WMAES’ New Ultimate Frisbee Team Wins in First Tournament of the Year

Here at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, we participate in sports for both the fall and winter semesters, the most recent addition to that list being our newly founded Ultimate Frisbee team. On October 30th, WMAES put together a team of 4th-8th graders to participate in Zig Zag Ultimate’s youth tournament. This tournament is the first of what we hope to be many that we participate in. Our club may have been freshly established, but they came home as victors after an excellent showing for our school.

Our Athletic Support member April Nelson had the following to say in regards to Friday’s big win, “We are super excited that we did that well in their first season. We hope the fourth to eight grade team will play again in the spring if we can field a team, and some day we could maybe field a high school team. It is a great opportunity for our students that teaches responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, conflict resolution, and so much more.”

Athletics can serve as a fundamental part of school-aged children’s lives, and as we bring forward more opportunities for students to get involved in our athletics program, we hope to see more wins like this one pile up for the Eagles.
