It is our mission, to encourage discovery, learn outside and explore using all of our senses!
Our preschool program is held in our early childhood center that is located just west of our elementary building on our campus. Our nature-based GSRP program is free to families who meet the necessary requirements. For this program, students need to be 4 years old by September 1, 2023.
*To apply through the Kent County ISD, you will need the following:
- Proof of birth (birth certificate, passport, etc.)
- Proof of income (W-2, pay stub, etc.)
- Proof of residency (Driver's License, utility bills, etc.)
- Most recent Physical or Well Child Checkup/Health Appraisal Form
- Individualized Education Plan or IEP (if your child has one)

Great Start Readiness Program Nature-Based Preschool at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science is an environmentally based program focused on exploring and learning early childhood academic skills alongside nature with hands-on, child-centered discovery. Preschoolers at WMAES get the unique experience of learning alongside nature around our 62-acre campus and in their specialized Outdoor Classroom complete with natural playscapes. Our teachers are highly qualified and encourage strong family partnership to create the best preschool experience possible.
School Days are Monday-Thursday
Time: 7:45am - 3:00pm
Our GSRP classrooms have a 1:8 ratio of teachers to students .
