Art

By Adria and MurphySunset drawing with three girls of different races holding hands in unity

This piece was made by Sophia, a freshman here at WMAES. Her passion for art stemmed from her passion for activism. A clothing company named J Jill holds an art competition every year, for a fundraiser for women’s rights. During the competition artists can try to make the best design for a shirt that represents the theme of female equality. J Jill votes on what piece will win and be the shirt’s design. The winning shirt is sold in J Jill stores and the earnings are donated to a woman’s charity. This piece was made with spray paint for the ground and sunset, bowls to make the shapes, and watercolor for the people. It took about 4 hours to spray paint and 4 hours to paint the people. This piece represents women empowerment and different diverse women coming together and working together to create a better world. Good luck to Sophia, and we hope she wins!
