West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science Donates $5,500 This Holiday Season

We are proud to celebrate a huge accomplishment from the Student Council at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science and their “Change for Change” initiative. The academy student council nearly doubled its donations from last year’s $3,000 total, raising a total of $5,500 this year for families in need during the Holidays.

What formerly was known as the “Toys for Eagles” fundraiser saw students in friendly competition pitting class against class to see who could raise more change for families during the Holiday Season. The program was renamed to “Change for Change” and from November 28th to December 15th, word spread fast and brought in $5,500 dollars for donation.

School staff nominated 12 families in need to help with their holiday planning, and the impact that this program had could be felt in the reactions of those it assisted, with one parent saying, “I am grateful for the help so I can ensure our kids have a great Christmas and Christmas dinner this year.”

We look forward to a relaxing Winter Break and are excited to finish the school year strong this January! To see what else is in store at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, follow us on social media and our blog.
