SUMMER THEMES:

JUNE 8-12 ADVENTURE SKILLS/SURVIVAL (MUD OVEN BUILDING INCLUDED)
Campers will learn some survival skills like plant ID, shelter building and even learn about survivor tools like the Atl Atl. All campers will help build our mud oven with clay, sand and straw.

JUNE 15-19 GARDEN ADVENTURES
We’ll learn about what plants are in the garden, how to ID them, and eat them! Campers will also be learning what bugs are beneficial and harmful for the garden and collecting them with bug nets. Each camper will help care for the garden, help plant plants and bring home their own vegetable plant to grow.

JUNE 22-26 WONDERS OF WATER
Water is filled with life and we will explore all the ponds and streams at WMAES. Campers will use dip nets to catch crayfish and learn how to use a microscope to ID micro invertebrates. Water games will be played and campers will get wet.

JUNE 29-JULY 2 ANIMAL SUPER POWERS
The animal world is filled with amazing animals and their adaptations are like super powers. Learn all about what makes a cricket chirp, how Snowshoe hare camouflage in the winter, how birds fly, how bees make honey and much more. We’ll explore YOUR super power too.

JULY 6-10 THINGS WITH WINGS
There are so many things with wings out there! Birds, bugs, rockets, planes…let’s explore the science of flying and learn about the creatures with wings. Maybe we’ll catch some butterflies.

JULY 13-17 SCALES, SHELLS AND SLIMY SKIN
Scales, shells and slimy skin are ways that creature survive in their habitat. We’ll look for, ID and discover all the slimy creatures outside in the ponds at WMAES and meet some of our scaly friends inside.

JULY 20-24 CAMO WEEK
Campers will learn all about animal camouflage this week by exploring skins of local animals, visiting the ecosystems at WMAES in search of camouflage by insects and birds and by playing our favorite game-CAMOUFLAGE. Hope to see some camo clothes this week.

JULY 27-31 NATURE DETECTIVES
Get your detective skills ready because campers will be using microscopes, magnifying glasses, having scavenger hunts and more to learn all about the secrets of the school ecosystems.

AUGUST 3-7 JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE PRAIRIE
Learn about pollination, wildflowers, and some of the cool animals that call these two ecosystems home. Students will explore the trails through each ecosystem while collecting bugs, identifying plants, and bird watching through binoculars.

AUGUST 10-14 IT’S NOT EASY BEING GREEN
Rethink, Reduce, ReUse, Recycle, STEAM…in that order! Let’s learn about making good choices and then use our materials that we have Rethink or Recycled to create some STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Projects.

AUGUST 17-21 STAR WARS: THE LAST ENDANGERED SPECIES
Be prepared to learn about the war against animal endangerment! We will be learning about the top 10 most critically endangered animals and what it takes to prevent animal extinction.
