Today we celebrate Mrs. Kerri Barrett, elementary principal, Mr. Nathan VanDuinen, elementary vice principal and Mr. Alan Bosker, secondary principal. All of our principals bring a wealth of experience to WMAES and their passion and commitment is unwavering. They infuse the curriculum with an environmental focus so that students are able to learn and thrive in their school community.
Mrs. Barrett attended the University of Michigan and has been in education for 11 years, ten of which have been spent at WMAES! She is dynamic, inspiring and always goes above and beyond to meet the needs of students and her staff. Mrs. Barrett was nominated for the Administrator of the Year through MAPSA (Michigan Association of Public School Academies) twice in years past! In her spare time, she loves to be with her husband and two kids.
Mr. VanDuinen attended Grand Valley State University for his bachelor’s degree and Western Michigan University for his master’s. He has been at WMAES for the past 11 years and was a technology teacher before becoming the elementary assistant principal in 2016. The most rewarding aspect of working in education for him is having the opportunity to provide all students with experiences to develop character and academic skills that will support their future aspirations. He and his wife are expecting their first child in January and couldn’t be more excited! In his free time, he loves to be active and could probably find him in a gym.
Mr. Bosker is in his eleventh year of education and his third year as principal at WMAES. He is passionate about students and their learning and thrives when he is able to assist students and families to reach their goals. Mr. Bosker is supportive and loves to be part of the WMAES community. He is married and has three children and loves to travel, play sports and spend time with his family.
We are thankful for Mrs. Barrett, Mr. VanDuinen and Mr. Bosker’s leadership at WMAES. We are better because of them.
