Friday, November 15th is America Recycles Day! It is also the last day of our Recycle Bowl! Please give any last minute glass, tin, numbered plastics, paper, and cardboard (separate bag) to Mr. Shawn, Ms. Holly, or your first hour teacher!
WMAES annual Penny War has officially started! This is a schoolwide event and runs until November 15th. Each classroom has a container (high school 1st hour) to collect change and dollar bills. Pennies are counted as positive points and silver coins/dollar bills are counted as negative points. Students may put coins in other classrooms before the moring bell or after school. Thank you for helping raise money for the high school service learning trip to Colorado!
Join us for some winter, family fun on Thursday, November 7th from 5-7pm! FREE dinner will be served until 6pm. The fun includes live reindeer, hot cocoa station, hayrides, snowman crafts, games, and more!

It's Recycle Bowl 2013!
Who: WMAES students Pre-k through 12th grade
What: Bring in CLEAN RECYCABLES (tin cans, paper, glass, plastic)
When: October 21-November 15
Where: Drop off recycables at Mr. Shawn and Ms. Holly's classroom in BAGS with your classroom teacher's name on it on WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY mornings between 7:40-8:10am (MS/HS it goes by first hour teacher).
Why: To compete against other Michigan schools to win $1,000!
*We will also be counting our school lunch compost material, recycled paper from classrooms, and all our plastics and tin. We need YOU to help give us that boost to WIN, WIN, WIN!
All runners on the middle school cross country team placed and received top honors at the Kent City Invitational even with a rainstorm! Great job, Eagles!
The Scholstic Book Fair begins this Wednesday, October 16th! The book fair is located on the second floor of the gym. Stop by before/after school or during conferences - happy reading! Book fair ends Monday, October 21st after conferences.

Tonight, October 9th, is this year's first Parent Information Night: Healthy Living! FREE dinner begins at 5pm. A trained nutritionist will be at WMAES to offer parents new ways to keep your family healthy. Hope to see you here!

Over the weekend our WMAES Cross Country team had a great showing at the Sparta Cross Country Invitational! Every runner below ran a new personal record. If you see these students please congratulate them!
It's time for our second annual school-wide, K-12, ARTPRIZE competition! Last year, we saw murals, paintings, door decorations, ceiling art and more! Art piece's should include school spirit, environmental/nature theme, reused materials and uniqueness. Keep calm and create art!
10/25: Entries complete and map will be provided to classes and families.
10/31: Voting day during lunches!
11/1: School-wide assembly at 1:50pm to showcase artwork and announce the winners!

Join us for our annual Open House and Pig Roast, August 22 beginning at 5:30pm!
Every year, returning and new families join the WMAES staff for a wonderful start to a new school year. Students and parents will be able to tour the school and gardens, meet their new teachers, introduce themselves to classmates, take a hayride through our campus, and enjoy a pig roast dinner! Giveaways and prizes will also be handed out to students and parents for a little added fun. We look forward to seeing you there!
