Entrepreneurial Program 2017-11-02T21:16:10+00:00

West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science’s Entrepreneurship Program aims to foster creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit within the school while offering the opportunity to receive college credits.

Students selected for this program will address an environmental issue by creating and producing a sustainable product. At the conclusion of the Entrepreneurial Program, students participate in the Make-A-Pitch contest, with the winner receiving a $1,000 award to invest in expanding their business. All students who successfully complete the Entrepreneurial Program will receive free credits from Davenport University.

Program Objectives

  • Students learn from local business owners through field trips, case studies, and a mentoring experience
  • Students innovate products by using materials typically wasted in the environmental product life cycle
  • Students produce a business plan with detailed financial, marketing, and research data
  • Students acquire the skills to pilot their own entrepreneurial venture
  • Student learning is achieved through hands on and experiential learning practices

Student developed products are sold at the WMAES Eagle Shack, a mobile school store managed by entrepreneurial students.

At WMAES, students who start a business can help save the planet!
